i am from china. i am trying to find a software to manager my collections and notes.

some days ago, i find Canaware netnote and i like it. it is very very good.

but it only work on windows. it perform good on my office laptop pc(hp windows xp with license).

but when i back to home, i use a old x86 pc, running fedora12.

i try to install Canaware netnote on linux by wine. but i am failed.

then i install a virtualbox and install a copy of windows xp in it.

because i don't get the windows xp license, so i download a Deepin xp, a copy of windows xp with many functions cutted (to reduce the using of CPU and memory).

i install a Canaware netnote on the Deepin xp(install dotnetfx2.0 first), but it don't work. after a startup screen, there is nothing.

then i install dotnetfx 3.0. no sense.

so i think the causation is from the deepin xp.(many function cutted).

but when i open IE(version 6.0). i find the Canaware netnote icon on the toolbar.

so i select some text and right click "Export to Canaware netnote". something strang. it's work very well.

and then i dub-click the desktop icon. the issue is the same.

so i think maybe there is bug in the Canaware netnote 5.5. if the software can't start well, the right click function should be not work also.

hope it's useful to you.

can you give some suggeston:

1, if there is some way to install Canaware netnote on Linux?

2, if there is a similar software with Canaware, but it can work on Linux?

thank!

note: i remember a thing: the dotnetfx that i install is english version. but the xp is chinese. so i will try again with dotnetfx chinese version installation.

Glad to hear that you like NetNotes.

About your problem, we don't know if it a bug or not, because we don't have the same platform, we can't debug it.

We are sorry to let you know that NetNotes can only run on Windows platform, and we have no plan to run on Linux. Please install NetNotes on your PC running on Window OS.

thanks! i can understand.

today morning, i have a good idea: if i can write a similar software for linux.

i am familiar with qt(trolltech qt, a cross-platform).  qt support html very well.

of couse, i don't like windows, i don't like ie. i will base on firefox.  a cross-platform browser.

i will take the canaware netnote as a template if you agree. the data architecture to arrange collections and notes is very well also. i like it also.

if you agree, i will ask you for help if possible.

but now i am not sure when i will start, and if i can finish it.

just a dream now. thanks! when i have time i will try to ......
